I need help

I see that some blogs are very sophisticated. I need to find out how to “upload” things and do something more interesting this opportunity. Some very positive things have been happening in my life. I have several new clients and work with them is going well. I have been working on a book for preschoolers with my daughter. I think we will choose the self-publishing route as she will mainly use it in her work. The process has been fun, creative and interesting. We have worked together so very well and laughed and laughed. We have a series of 5 books planned and have the content for all 5. Now were are working on illustrating the text. What a joy to work with her.

First new client

I am looking forward to getting my first paid coaching client. We will begin working together in three weeks. So I have lots of preparation. My model is finished and I like it. I have adapted a counseling model called TFA, which simply stands for Thinking, Feeling and Acting and is visually represented by a triangle. At each corner is either a T an F or an A. In the center is a circle with the word GOAL in the center. I think the visual summarizes the components of our behavior (TFA) and how they must work together to reach our goals. I am working on having that triangle inside a larger, outer triangle that will represent what the coach brings to the relationship. We will see how it goes.

Reflections

It has been a long time since I have visited this site. …Many things have happened, the most worrisome the shootings at Virginia Tech. Students here have been deeply affected and our case load has soared. After 5 memorial services even the staff needs support. There is so much unknown about mental illness.

Almost Spring

I spent the weekend working in my garden. This time of year mother nature always teases me with a few beautiful days. I use those days to reconnect with with the earth, with promises yet to come. It frees my soul to get my hands dirty and to begin to restore my woman made order to the yard. There are several daffodils already in bloom and my white azalea is about ready to pop. My ideas about my coaching practice are a bit like that azalea….about ready to pop, but the conditions are not quite right, yet. Oh well, I will enjoy this phase of my garden and of my coaching venture….the other seasons come so quickly.

Long time no see

I am having a student help me with the entire blog concept. I really don’t know how to get here, other than follow the email link that WordPress sent. I also don’t know how others read my blog and how interaction is suppose to happen. Hopefully, Justin will be able to inform me and I will make better use of this opportunity.

Off to the Beach

It’s time for my mid-winter trip to the beach. I have been going to the same location for the past 10 years and it never loses its appeal. This is the perfect time for reflection, reading and communing with nature. There are usually several days during the week, when with a little bundling-up, that I can take long walks by the ocean. This year I am taking my coaching information and will participate in my weekly teleclass….this really isn’t work. I will spend time really thinking about the discussion questions. Sometimes, trying to juggle all my activites, I answer the discussion questions just to be sure that I am making regular posts. This week, I want to think!!!! See you later. A

Reflection on a massage

Today was a good day. I had a wonderfully relaxing massage. Spending time on my own self-care is something that I need to set as a priority. An hour spent in quiet reflection has been good for both my body and my soul. I have no doubt that I will be more productive today and be more centered for my clients. Sometimes as coaches, counselors, teachers, family members, friends and lovers we forget that taking care of ourselves is so important to what we do. Bye for now. AT
